On 30 December 2018 at 1905 UTC (1405 EST) an Emergency Position Indicating Radiobeacon (EPIRB) was detected at 26 14.9N 82 35.9W, 36 NM southwest of Ft. Myers Beach, FL. It was activated when the 36-foot pleasure craft SEA DADDY, with 7 people on board, became disabled. Coast Guard District 7 received the alert and directed Sector St. Petersburg (SECSTP) to issue an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast. SECSTP received a Mayday call from the SEA DADDY and coordinated the launch of a response boat from Station Fort Myers Beach (STAFMB). STAFMB arrived on scene and placed the vessel in tow, then later passed the tow to a Good Samaritan at the operator's request. All 7 passengers returned to shore uninjured.
